La Casona de Valladolid

TRAVEL TO THE PAST OF A STATELY MANSION AND TASTE THE FLAVORS OF THE NEW WORLD.

Located a few blocks from Valladolid main square, La Casona is a place where past splendor is combined with the mixture of flavors of the present.

Admire the French floors and large central arch, which allowed two-horse carriages to get in, amongst other elements of its original architecture, carefully restored by Experiencias Xcaret. In the 18th century this colonial mansion was owned by a governor of Yucatan, General José Iturralde Traconis. Later it belonged to a renowned family of high society, Alcocer-Arceo, who made of this stately building a scene of dances and the finest celebrations of the time.

Delight with the fusion of pre-Hispanic ingredients such as corn, achiote, pumpkin seeds and habanero chile, with those brought from distant lands like garlic, pork, chicken and almonds.

Whether buffet or à la carte options, you can choose from more than 70 dishes of Yucatan gastronomy, made with local ingredients, ensuring the quality and originality of its flavors. There are specialties for vegetarians too.

Try a delicious lime soup, be surprised by the exotic flavor of Poc Chuc, roasted pork with bitter orange, and you can’t leave without having traditional Cochinita Pibil, achiote-marinated pork slow-roasted underground.

Buy handicrafts at the picturesque Heart of Zoila Rosa shop, where you can find anything from traditional embroidered blouses, to Mexican design ornaments for your home.

Lunch is included at La Casona de Valladolid on the Xichén Deluxe Tour. You can also visit it on 41 Street, corner with 44 No. 214, Downtown Valladolid, Mexico. It opens from 12:00 to 19:00 h with special discounts for Quintana Roo and Valladolid residents.
